Where do glow squids spawn in Minecraft 1.18 update?

While exploring the vast and dynamic world of Minecraft 1.18 Update, players can come across many different creatures called mobs in the game. The crowd can range from animals like cows to villagers and skeletons. Each mob falls under a specific category. For example, the Ender Dragon is a boss mob, a sheep is a passive mob and a creeper is a hostile mob.

Squids in Minecraft are a passive horde that can be found in groups of one to three in rivers and oceans. They move aimlessly in the water and travel in three directions. squid has no abilities or traits. They do not attack the player, even if the player is attacking them. This article talks about a variant of the squid, called the glow squid, and its status after the Minecraft 1.18 update.

Glow squids are one of many aquatic mobs in Minecraft. As mentioned above, they are passive and do not have any unique abilities. However, unlike the common squid, glow squid are found in deep underwater regions, mostly present in deep underwater cave systems. They can also be identified using their aqua luminescent color and texture. Glow squid emit a unique, pearl-like sound when swimming, and emit crystalline particles when they swim.

Spawning

Since Minecraft 1.18, glow squid below Y level 30 roam in groups of two to four, usually in total darkness, which is the same for Axolotl. They look as if they are shining, but do not contribute in any way to the light level of the surrounding area, as they do not generate light. If the glow squid and the axolotl spawn in the same area, the latter gains the upper hand in combat because the axolotl can attack the glow squid, but not vice versa. In addition, baby versions of glow squid have a 5% chance of spawning and are exclusive to Minecraft Bedrock Edition.

Behavior

Glow squid, like normal squid, move aimlessly in the water and travel in three directions. They can suffocate when pushed out of the water, with only 15 seconds or 300 in-game ticks to survive after breaking the surface of the water. When attacked, glow squids stop glowing for five seconds, or 100 in-game ticks. Also, they can be attacked by guardians or elder guardians in the same way that both players attack.

drop

Glow squid can drop one to three glowing ink sacs when killed. If a player uses the looting enchantment to kill, it increases the maximum amount of glow ink from three to six. Killing a glow squid drops one to three experience points.
