BEDROCK EDITION
Bedrock Edition ( also known as the Bedrock editions, Bedrock interpretations, or just Bedrock) refers to themulti-platform interpretations of Minecraft developed by Mojang Studios, Xbox Game Studios, and SkyBox Labs and hung on the Bedrock codebase. The final Bedrock Edition interpretation is1.17.34.
Although all Bedrock editions are nearly identical, the price varies depending on the platform. The Android interpretation costsUS$7.49 (£5.41), while the iOS/ iPadOS and Fire interpretations bringUS$6.99 (£5.05). PlayStation 4 and Xbox One interpretations bringUS$19.99 (£14.45). The Windows 10 interpretation costsUS$26.99 (£19.51), and the Nintendo Switch interpretation is the most extravagant, bringingUS$29.99 (£21.68). DLC copped from the Marketplace on one platform is usable on all other platforms, but the game itself is dealt single-handedly on each platform. Xbox Live achievements aren't participated between platforms and buying the game on one of these platforms doesn't get the game on the others. The Xbox One interpretation is also playable to Xbox Game Pass subscribers. The Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and Windows 10 interpretations are playable on Xbox Series X| S, PlayStation 5 and Windows 11 separately via backward comity. As with all other interpretations of Minecraft, updates are free of charge.
NOMENCLATURE
The name"Bedrock Edition"isn't the authorized name of any edition of the game. Starting with the Better Together Update, all Bedrock editions of Minecraft have been named simply Minecraft. Before either, they each had a translation associating the target platform, including Pocket Edition (for all mobile platforms), Windows 10 Edition, Gear VR Edition, and Fire TV Edition. The foremost of these was Pocket Edition, also known as"MCPE"or"PE", and these names were (and still are) sometimes used to bear to all the Bedrock editions, perhaps yea including those that were introduced after the renaming did. The renaming of the Bedrock editions to Minecraft with no"Edition"subtitles created confusion in the community for several reasons This name had until either bore to the performance now known as Java Edition, which isn't Bedrock Edition. The Java performance was renamed to Minecraft Java Edition at the same time the Bedrock editions were renamed to Minecraft, so for a while any use of the name was hopelessly inscrutable. Although officially named just Minecraft, the Bedrock editions for consoles are retailed as Minecraft for Xbox, Minecraft for PlayStation 4, and Minecraft for Nintendo Switch. These names are ditto to the Legacy Console Editions on the same platforms, nominated as Minecraft Xbox One Edition, Minecraft PlayStation 4 Edition, and Minecraft Nintendo Switch Edition, leaving multiple confused about the differences between the two performances. The term"Minecraft" was (and still is) also ordinarily used to apply to the game in general. Together, these complications made the authorized name Minecraft useless for applying to the Bedrock editions inclusively. The editors of this wiki, notwithstanding, demanded such a term in order to describe the functioning of the Bedrock motor across all editions, so despite there not being a real Bedrock Edition, the wiki chose to use this as a term of art. Thereafter, the community espoused it as well and it's now the de facto standard term for pertaining to all the Bedrock editions inclusively.
BEDROCK CODEBASE
The term "Bedrock Edition" comes from Bedrock codebase, which was created in the C ++ programming language to work on platforms that can support Java. The code was added to accommodate differences in targeted platforms such as communication and retention, or about 90% of the code applied to all platforms. This standard operating system is called a "Bedrock engine", but the engine itself does not have an independent body. This allows codebase to handle not only the current version but all previous versions, independent versions of Bedrock Dedicated Server (BDS), and several Beta versions simultaneously without any conflicts.
