Minecraft 1.18 update: List of new mountain biomes
Minecraft is one of the most famous sandbox games and is played by thousands of players every day. As such, the game requires a constant flow of new features and content to keep things fresh.
Every year, one or more major Minecraft updates are released with lots of new exciting items, blocks, and some mobs. The first Caves & Cliffs update has already been released this year, and the second one is on the way.
With the Minecraft 1.18 update, new world generation features are being introduced. The height of the construction is being increased to 384 blocks. 320 is the new limit up and -64 down.
The new mountain sub-biome is arguably one of the best features of the 1.18 update. Six new biomes are coming in this update.
Here is a list of all the new mountain biomes along with some of their characteristics:
Grassland: This biome can be found in some of the lowest layers of mountains. It is full of blocks of grass. Village and pillar outposts can also generate here. Only three mobs - rabbits, donkeys and sheep - are born here.
Grove: This biome originates in the slopes of snowy mountains, and produces powder snow blocks. The Pillar Outpost is the only structure players can find here, and rabbits, wolves, pigs, chickens, cows and foxes breed in this sub-biome.
Snowy Slopes: As the name suggests, this mountain biome is also covered with snow. Two structures – the pillar post and the igloo – can be found here. Rabbits and goats are the only mobs players will find in this biome.
Jagged Peaks: This is one of the highest sub biomes that originates on mountain peaks. The only structure players can find here is Pillar Outpost, and goats are the only mobs that roam here. Since it is one of the topmost sub-biomes, it is also covered with snow.
Frozen Peaks: Like the Chained Peaks biome, this biome is also one of the tallest and is covered with snow. However, players will also get packed ice blocks here. Only goats and pillar posts are produced here. Rocky Peaks: Unlike the previous biomes, the Rocky Peaks are covered with strips of stone, gravel, and calcite blocks. No animals are born here, and the only structure players can find is the pillar outpost.
Players will be able to explore all of these biomes once the Minecraft 1.18 update arrives on November 30th. They can also try to play on the pre-release versions, but they can be a bit unstable.
